It was such a beautiful sight to see that children, the poor, the aged and vulnerable people in New Juaben South constituency of the Eastern region, were not left out nor forgotten in the 2021 Christmas and New Year celebrations curtsey of hon. Michael Okyere Baafi, the Member of Parliament for the area.
Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi on 26th December, 2021, hosted “Kids ward Party” and personally served food to children on their sick bed’s including their mothers at the hospital yard.
As part of his social responsibilities, hon Baafi again presented a cheque of gh¢5,000 to the Koforidua Central hospital to pay for the bills of all children admitted at the children’s ward.
Hon. Baafi in a mini durbar stated that it was important to take up the bills because the move would lessen the burden of the mothers who would have paid all the bills.
He expressed the hope that the gesture would put smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries as they celebrates this year’s Christmas.
The deputy Trade and Industry minister told Koforidua based Afeema FM that, as part of his “New Koforidua Project” which is aimed at changing the scoop of Koforidua, the MP has hinted of plans by his office to equip Koforidua hospital with the requisite hospital machines to transform the facility into a world class recognition for better treatment.
However, he charged the health workers at the hospital to ensure professionalism in their duties and brings out their best of providing quality healthcare for the sick.
Children Partying with MP
The deputy minister again fetes children in his constituency as part of the Christmas festivities.
The event, which has become an annual ritual, brought these children together to congregate at the Koforidua Old Estate park for the celebration.
The occasion benefited over 400 of children across the 34 electoral areas in New Juaben South constituency.
The highly elated crowd was treated to food, water and drinks amidst outdoor games and entertainment.
The NPP MP supplied to the children with shirts, dresses and xylophones as their Christmas gifts.
The lawmaker noted that as the Lord has blessed him, he is replicating same by sharing with the children in the constituency.
He added that the purpose of the children’s party was to let the children feel the importance of the birth of Jesus Christ.
The MP in his advise warned the children to take their studies seriously, respect their parents and authority’s since education and obedience is pivotal to success.
Baafi used the occasion to wish the children and the good people of New Juaben South a Happy New year and asked his constituents to pray for him, the NPP party and President Nana Akufo Addo to continue to deliver their promises to Ghanaians.
Free NHIS Registration
The lawmaker indicated that he has taken note of the plight of his constituents who cannot access medical attention.
According to him, such persons include those who are not insured under the National Health Insurance Scheme, as well as those with conditions that are not covered by the scheme.
This engineered the Member of Parliament to collaborate with the National Health Insurance Authority on 27th December, 2021, registered and renewed over 200 people aged over 50 years on the National Health Insurance Scheme through his puckett.
The MP also noted that the registration of the people under NHIS also formed part of his plans to lessen the financial burden of the aged.
